Privacy Policy
This policy covers StelaWare (desktop) and StelaWare Companion (iOS/Android).
Summary
- Your manuscript files stay on your devices and in your own Git host. We do not host your manuscript on StelaWare servers.
- Companion may use a StelaWare account so you can sign in and see projects you have linked.
- When you sync with your Git host, access credentials stay on your device in the operating system’s secure storage.
- Optional background photos stay on your device; they are not uploaded to StelaWare.
Account and identity
Companion may let you sign in with Apple, Google, GitHub, or email and password. We keep the account information needed to sign you in and recognize your account (such as email address and display name), using secure cloud account services that process that data on our behalf.
Linked projects and plan status
When you link projects from the desktop app, Companion may store a small project list so the phone can show what you have connected (for example, a project name and which repository it refers to). We may also store plan or trial status so the apps know which features you can use. We do not use this to host or read your manuscript text.
Sync with your Git host
To download projects and sync notes or to-dos, Companion may ask permission to access your Git host (commonly GitHub). Credentials used for that access remain on your device. Companion can read your project for reading on the phone and can sync notes and to-dos you capture in Companion. It does not rewrite your manuscript document files.
Photos
If you choose a photo from your library as an app background, that image stays on your device inside the Companion app. It is not uploaded to StelaWare servers.
Analytics and advertising
We do not currently use third-party advertising tools or sell personal information. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy.
Account deletion
In Companion, open Settings → Delete account. This deletes your StelaWare Companion account, removes Companion data stored on the device, and removes linked-project account data we hold for Companion. It does not delete your Git repositories or desktop project folders.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party services to run sign-in and related account features. Those providers process limited account data only as needed to provide those services to us, under their own terms and privacy policies.
